SWEDEN - October 15, 2026 - SciBase Holding AB ("SciBase") [STO: SCIB], a leader in AI-based devices for detection and prevention in dermatology, today announces that a new study will be initiated in a collaboration between NIH (National Institute of Health, US) and the Swiss Institute of Allergy and Asthma Research (SIAF). In the NIH led study - THREAT (Testing Harms Related to Exposure to Allergenic Toxins), SciBase Nevisense and its Electrical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) technology will be used as a primary endpoint to explore how environmental exposure impacts the skin. The study design has been described in an editorial published in the leading peer-reviewed journal Allergy  titled "Exploring the Link Between Environmental Exposures and Disease via Direct Challenge".

In the study healthy subjects will either be exposed to common skin products that contain sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), bedding and clothing made of synthetic fibers, or pure contactants free of SLS and apparel/linen made from natural fibers (100% cotton). The effects of these exposures will be measured and compared using skin impedance (electrical impedance spectroscopy, EIS) as a marker of skin barrier dysfunction. Skin impedance devices transmit electrical signals at different frequencies that sense opposition to the electrical flow thus reflecting the barrier functional status of the skin.

The key highlights of the study are:

  • NIH has selected skin impedance, measured using SciBase's EIS technology, as the primary endpoint for assessing the impact of environmental exposures on skin barrier function in the THREAT study.
  • The study involves 80 healthy volunteers and investigates the effects of everyday exposures, including detergents, personal care products and synthetic textiles.
  • EIS will be used to monitor changes in skin barrier function over time, alongside molecular, microbiome and inflammatory biomarkers.
  • The study highlights the scientific relevance of EIS as an objective method for assessing skin barrier function, with potential applications in dermatology, cosmetic research and skin care product development.

"We are pleased that our Nevisense technology has been selected for this important NIH-led research initiative. The use of skin impedance as a primary endpoint highlights the scientific relevance of EIS in assessing skin barrier function. We believe this represents an important step in expanding the role of our technology in dermatology and skin health research," said Pia Renaudin, CEO of SciBase.

SWEDEN - October 15, 2026 - SciBase Holding AB ("SciBase") [STO: SCIB], a leader in AI-based devices for detection and prevention in dermatology, previously announced it received its first medical policy from a private insurance company. For a medtech company, this is one of the milestones that matters most: it means insurers now recognize the company's non-invasive skin assessment technology as a covered, reimbursable procedure. SciBase wants to become the world leader in non-invasive, high-precision skin assessment for cancer detection and skin barrier evaluation. Our long-term ambition, as previously communicated: a significant share of a market worth roughly $1 billion, at a gross margin target of 75%.

The medical policy represents more than the addition of a new payer. It begins to address one of the principal constraints on U.S. commercial scale and creates a pathway to convert established clinical adoption into broader reimbursed utilization.

SciBase has already established a strong commercial momentum in the United States without broad private payer reimbursement. The addition of coverage expands the number of dermatology practices and patients that can get access to Nevisense.

The decision from the first private payer marks a major milestone in SciBase's U.S. commercialization strategy and changes the reimbursement landscape for Nevisense.

"We have continued to strengthen Nevisense's position within both the skin cancer and skin barrier segments during both this and the last year. Several clinical studies and collaborations validate the value Nevisense adds and we see increased interest in the US as well as in other markets.," said Pia Renaudin CEO of SciBase. " The first medical policy is a defining milestone for SciBase and an important step forward in the development of our U.S. business and means we can now start scaling and thus improve patients' lives."

Pia adds: "This is an important step towards reaching our ambition to become the global leader in non-invasive, high-precision skin assessment for cancer detection and skin barrier evaluation, with the ambition of capturing a significant share of a $1billion market".

Nevisense is a non-invasive technology and clinicians get an objective, high-precision reading that can help diagnose skin cancer earlier and assess the skin barrier more reliably. For patients, that means fewer unnecessary procedures and for clinics, faster decisions.

Skin cancer is the most common cancer worldwide, and interest in skin barrier health keeps growing. Combined, the segments are worth an estimated $1 billion. With our business model of recurring revenue, we underpin the 75% gross margin target and keep the growth sustainable.

What the policy covers

Under the policy, EIS is considered medically necessary when a dermatologist is evaluating a clinically atypical suspicious pigmented lesion and is considering a biopsy.

The procedure is reported with CPT code 0658Tand the key criteria include:

  • Melanoma is part of the differential diagnosis
  • The lesion is on the trunk or extremities and measures 2 mm to 20 mm
  • The patient is 18 or older
  • The lesion is not on a mucosal surface, palm, sole or nail, and is not ulcerated, bleeding or recently traumatized
  • The device is FDA-approved and used by a dermatologist trained in clinical and dermoscopic evaluation of pigmented lesions

In support of its position, the payer cites the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines for Cutaneous Melanoma (Version 2.2026), which list EIS among technologies that may aid detection of new primary melanoma, and American Academy of Dermatology guidance on emerging noninvasive diagnostics.

Oct 14 2026

SWEDEN - October 14, 2026 - SciBase Holding AB ("SciBase") [STO: SCIB], a leader in advanced technology for the detection and prevention of skin disease, announced today that Nevisense has received its first positive medical policy from Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, one of the largest Blue Cross Blue Shield organizations in the United States.

The decision marks a major milestone in SciBase's U.S. commercialization strategy and changes the reimbursement landscape for Nevisense. For the first time, eligible use of the technology can move from a predominantly cash-pay model into covered care through a major U.S. private insurer, reducing one of the most significant barriers to broader clinical adoption.

SciBase has already established strong commercial momentum in the United States without broad private payer reimbursement. The addition of coverage introduces a new growth driver to an existing business, expanding the number of dermatology practices and patients that can access Nevisense within a reimbursed model.

"This is a defining milestone for SciBase and an important step forward in the development of our U.S. business," said Pia Renaudin, CEO of SciBase. " Highmark coverage begins to remove one of the most important barriers to scale and creates the opportunity to reach a substantially larger portion of the U.S. market. Reimbursement now becomes an additional driver of growth in a business where demand for our technology has already been established."

The United States is SciBase's largest commercial opportunity. Approximately 6,500 to 7,000 private dermatology clinics operate in the U.S., with around 6,000 considered relevant for Nevisense, and an estimated 4 to 4.5 million skin biopsies are performed annually.

The Highmark decision represents more than the addition of a new payer. It begins to address one of the principal constraints on U.S. commercial scale and creates a pathway to convert established clinical adoption into broader reimbursed utilization.

Highmark, together with its Blue-branded affiliates, is one of the largest Blue Cross Blue Shield affiliated organizations in the United States, serving over 7 million members across multiple states.

For dermatologists, reimbursement can reduce the financial barrier to incorporating Nevisense into care for eligible patients while expanding patient access to objective, non-invasive technology that can support the assessment of suspicious skin lesions.

SciBase will continue its engagement across the U.S. payer market while expanding commercial activity in geographies where reimbursement is available.

What the policy covers

Under the policy, Highmark considers EIS medically necessary when a dermatologist is evaluating a clinically atypical suspicious pigmented lesion and is considering a biopsy.

  • The policy applies to all Highmark commercial insured lines of business and to self-funded (ASO) employer groups that elect it. In support of its position, Highmark cites the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines for Cutaneous Melanoma (Version 2.2026), which list EIS among technologies that may aid detection of new primary melanoma, and American Academy of Dermatology guidance on emerging noninvasive diagnostics.
